What Is Daily Life Like When You Have Invisalign Aligners?
Have you been thinking of choosing Invisalign to straighten your teeth? You may be wondering how this treatment will affect your day-to-day activities. Our orthodontist in Bradenton and Parrish, FL, at Orthodontic Specialists offers the following advice on what to expect if you’re going to be wearing Invisalign trays for a few or more months.
Eating and Drinking
Invisalign trays aren’t like braces. You don’t have to leave them in while eating. In fact, we recommend removing them before you eat or drink anything other than water to help prevent damage and debris. That also means you don’t have to worry about following food restrictions as you would with braces.
Comfort
When you choose Invisalign in Parrish and Bradenton, FL, you can expect your trays to be comfortable to wear. Just keep in mind that you do need time to adjust to them, so you might experience some discomfort at first.
Sleeping
Should you sleep with your aligner trays in? Yes, you should keep them in while you sleep. Remember that you’ll need to wear them for around 22 hours a day, so that includes your sleep time! Once you’re used to them, you won’t notice you have them in at bedtime.
Activities
You can play sports or do other athletic activities during Invisalign treatment. But we may recommend removing your trays and wearing a mouthguard instead while doing so. This helps prevent aligner damage and protects your teeth from injuries.
